    ●      Pelts – to ensure softness and longevity professional garment/soft tanned pelts are recommended

    ●      Pelt size and quantity will vary greatly based on species and mitten size

    ●      General Guidelines for XL mittens:

    ●       Beaver, Coyote, Otter: 2 large pelts

    ●      Raccoon, Fox, Bobcat: 4 Large pelts

    ●      Buckskin or other soft leather (moose, or upholstery cowhide)  for palms

    ●      Lining fabric -polyester polar fleece is recommended for the pattern, if you are using wool you may need to size up

    ●      Non-stretch fabric for sewing test mitten -upholstery fabric works well (Joann Fabrics)

    ●      Heavyweight Cotton Twill Tape 1 ¼” width (1 ½” will work too, and may be easier to find), 2 yards -or other binding material-

    ●      Sharp blade for cutting hide: Furrier knife , scalpel, Xacto blade, utility knife

    ●      Extra blades

    ●      Thread

    ●      Hand sewing thread: polyester or nylon upholstery weight thread, such as Coats & Clark Upholstery Thread, bonded nylon size #46 or similar

    ●      Fur Machine sewing thread: whatever works well in your machine. I like bonded nylon size #46 for sewing beaver mittens. You will need a thinner thread for thinner hides, I like using home sewing machine thread for thinner hides (fox), like Coats & Clark All Purpose polyester thread.

    ●      Home sewing machine thread: All purpose polyester thread

    ●      Needles

    ●      Hand sewing

    ●      Glovers needle size 003 or similar

    ●      Optional: Sharps hand sewing needle size 003 or similar, for sewing binding
